Christmas Program

Christmas is a festival of colours with many colours and shades associated with it. “Colours of Christmas” a Christmas musical by noted composer Derric Johnson performed by Resonance School of Music, Trivandrum on 2nd  Jan 2011 at Mateer Memorial Church provided a unique music experience to choral music lovers.  The musical brought out various dimensions of the story of Christmas expressed through a variety of music styles, rhythmic changes and key changes.  Children from the age of 7 to 15 and their parents constituted the choir conducted by Rev Sugu John Chandy.


 The program also included the performance of the India Youth Chamber Orchestra conducted by K.Krishnakumar.  They performed ‘Scherzo’ composed by M.Gebauer, ‘Minuet and Trio’ composed by Mozart, ‘Minuet I and Minuet in G’ composed by J.S.Bach providing a hearty experience of western classical music. The Trivandrum Male Voices and The Trivandrum Chorister’s Association conducted by SP Thomas, Shalem Marthoma Church Choir conducted by Cherian Oommen and Ebenezer Marthoma Church Choir conducted by Dr. Abraham K Joshua presented Christmas carols during the musical evening. The ‘Colours of Christmas’ strived to popularize choral and orchestral music and provide space for its learning, performance and appreciation. The programme concluded with a combined performance of the participating choirs accompanied by the Salvation Army Brass Band led by Justin Benjamin
